Pupils who are ill and therefore not well enough to be in school will not be allocated home learning tasks nor if they are absent from school due to a planned family holiday.
In the event of a whole school closure, we will aim to provide structured, high-quality home learning that reflects the teaching taking place in school. Our approach:
- Will follow the National Curriculum
- Maintain clear progression in knowledge and skills
- Include regular interaction between teachers and pupils
- Support pupils to stay engaged and motivated
How to Access Home Learning
Children may access home learning through:
- Microsoft Teams
- Daily or weekly uploaded lessons and resources
- Shared links, videos, worksheets, and assignments
Login details can be provided to all pupils, and the school office can be contacted if there are any any issues with access.
Device and Internet Access
We recognise that access to technology may vary. We will try to support families by:
- Loaning devices where available
- Providing printed learning packs
- Offering guidance on accessing low-data resources
What Pupils Will Learn
We expect pupils to engage in learning activities each day. As a guide:
- Key Stage 1 (Years 1–2): Approximately 3 hours per day
- Key Stage 2 (Years 3–6): Approximately 4 hours per day
- Reception: Short, practical learning activities throughout the day
This includes a mix of online lessons, independent work, and reading.
Teaching and Interaction
Our remote teaching may include:
- Pre-recorded video lessons
- Live teaching sessions (where appropriate)
- Clear instructions and explanations
- Opportunities for pupils to ask questions and receive help
Teachers will maintain regular contact with pupils through the online platform or email.
Feedback and Assessment
We will try to provide feedback to support pupils’ progress:
- Work submitted online will be reviewed regularly
- Teachers will aim to provide comments, encouragement, and next steps
- Quizzes and short assessments may be used to check understanding
Supporting Pupils with SEND
We will work to ensure that pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) can access home learning. We will aim to provide:
- Adapted tasks and resources
- Individual support where appropriate
- Contact with the SENDCo and support staff
Supporting Wellbeing
We understand that learning at home can be challenging. We will aim to support pupils’ wellbeing by:
- Promoting a balanced daily routine
- Encouraging physical activity and breaks
- Checking in regularly with pupils
Parents/carers will be encouraged to contact us if they have any concerns.
Safeguarding and Online Safety
Safeguarding will always be a top priority.
- Pupils will be expected to follow the school’s behaviour and online safety rules
- All online interactions will be monitored by staff
- Parents/carers should supervise children’s internet use where possible
Any safeguarding concerns can be raised with the Headteacher.
How Parents and Carers Can Help
You can support your child by:
- Establishing a daily routine
- Providing a quiet space for learning
- Encouraging regular reading
- Staying in contact with the school
