Let the adventure begin!
Each year, we take our Year 5 children away for a two-night stay at JCA Condover Hall, in Shropshire. It’s an opportunity for children to develop their personal character by trying something new and experiencing the adventure of being away from home. We always have great time; it’s the highlight of the year for many of the children.

This year our trip to JCA Condover Hall is Wednesday 13th May to Friday 15th May 2026. Updates and information will be posted here. There is a dedicated button below that allows you access to a SharePoint of letters and resources.
- Children will be asked on arrival at Condover to make their own beds. This might be an unfamiliar task for some, so please do consider showing your child how to fit a bottom sheet and how to manage a pillowcase. We forget that the first time is always tricky!
- You can download the Vamoos app and then use this LINK to get general site information and also see the weekly menus etc. Please let us know if this doesn’t work as we’ve been unable to test it here. It might be you need these links first: Vamoos on the App Store (apple.com) / Vamoos – Apps on Google Play
- The payment details have been emailed via the school office. Please note the payment deadlines.
- A kit list and information about medication is in the resource folder below. We will take any inhalers we hold in school with us, but any other medication will need taking to the office and a form signing. Remember travel tablets for the return journey too!
- Remember that children need their own towels and sleeping bags. Pillows are provided.
- Our activity schedule includes abseiling, jacob’s ladder (see photo above), aerial trek, sensory trail and the climbing wall, and our evening activities are the disco and wide games!
- Children will be allocated activity groups and dorm groups and they will be told about these on the Wednesday morning before we leave. Please remember that these will never be ‘ideal’ but we’ll do our utmost best to balance everyone’s needs and make this work for everyone.
- Children are not permitted to take phones.
- The staff going will likely include Mr George, Mr Mellows, Miss Middleton, Mrs Glover, Mrs Chambers, Mrs D and Mrs Harrison.
- Please do speak with us about any concerns or queries.
- We will have opportunity to visit the on-site gift shop. There are a variety of small souvenirs for under £5 and children will need to look after their money themselves. £5 is plenty – but please send no more than £10.
- On the Wednesday, please remember to send a packed lunch. We’ve had some ‘eventful’ coach trips in the past and you may like to consider providing only a light lunch as this may be friendlier on their ‘travelling tummies!’ Note, we don’t allow sweets to come out on the coach journey for similar reasons! We will have a good hot meal in the evening.
- On the Wednesday, please bring all bags, cases and kit – CLEARLY NAMED – to the hall, through the side door, at the start of school. Any willing adult helpers would be welcome to help load bags and cases onto the coach at 12:10. If you’re wanting to ‘wave off’ the coach, this will be around 12:30pm. Obviously, we’re not expecting anyone in uniform that day.
- Children may bring a school bag in on the Wednesday (with their packed lunch in…) These will just stay in school until Monday unless they are especially needed Friday evening. We tend not to go back to the classrooms!
We should be back by 3:00 on the Friday and will contact school if there is any significant delay. Generally children are collected with their bags from the front of school. If it is raining we’ll probably go into the hall.
