Let the adventure begin!

Each year, we take our Year 5 children away for a two night stay at JCA Condover Hall, in Shropshire. It’s an opportunity for children to develop their personal character by trying something new and experiencing the adventure of being away from home. We always have great time; it’s the highlight of the year for many of the children.

Information about this year’s residential 2024/25

This year our trip to JCA Condover Hall is Wednesday 7th May to Friday 9th May 2025. Updates and information will be posted here. There is a dedicated button below that allows you access to a SharePoint of letters and resources.

  • The trip will cost £237.57 and the payments are as follows:
  • 1st March £75 (non-refundable deposit)
  • 1st April £81.29 / 1st May £81.28
  • A kit list and information about medication is in the resource folder below.  Remember that children need their own towels and sleeping bags.
  • Our activity schedule is not yet confirmed but may include: sensory trail, fencing, ‘conquest’ (an inflatable game with laser guns), initiative exercises, abseiling, zip line, climbing wall, camp fire, film night, evening disco.
  • We’re not expecting children to bring fancy outfits for the disco, but they may want to pack something suitable for the occasion.
  • Children will be allocated activity groups and dorm groups and they will be told about these on the Wednesday morning before we leave.  Please remember that these will never be ‘ideal’ but we’ll do our utmost best to balance everyone’s needs and make this work for everyone.
  • Children are not permitted to take phones.
  • The staff going will likely include Mr George, Mr Mellows, Mrs Glover, Miss Middleton, Mrs Chambers and Mrs Harrison.
  • Please do speak with us about any concerns or queries.
  • We will have opportunity to visit the on-site gift shop.  There are a variety of small souvenirs for under £5 and children will need to look after their money themselves.  £5 is plenty – but please send no more than £10.
  • On the Wednesday, we leave school just after lunch.  We’ve had some ‘eventful’ coach trips in the past and you may like to consider providing only a light packed lunch as this may be friendlier on their ‘travelling tummies!’  We will have a good hot meal in the evening.  Note, we don’t allow sweets to come out on the coach journey for similar reasons!
  • On the day please bring all bags, cases and kit – CLEARLY NAMED – to the hall, through the side door, at the start of school.  Any willing adult helpers would be welcome to help load bags and cases onto the buses at 12:45. If you’re wanting to ‘wave off’ the coach, this will be at 1:15pm. Obviously, we’re not expecting anyone in uniform that day.

  • We should be back by 3:15 on the Friday and will contact school if there is any significant delay.
