Supporting Families at Astwood Bank Primary School

We are proud of the relationships that we build with our parent community.

It is part of our ethos to be a school that values the partnership we have with parents and carers. The word that means the most to us is ‘care’. In our school community we care for each other, which means that we are always available to support children and families when times get hard. Our door is always open. We have members of staff on hand every day via email, phone or face-to-face, to help deliver the right support at the right time.

Parents and carers are free to contact us at any time via the school office or in person, to arrange an appointment with our family support worker.

Our staff are trained to recognise the signs that a child or family might require some additional support. We work closely with outside agencies, national organisations and people within the local community to make sure that children can thrive. ‘Early help’ is used to describe help and support offered to children and families at level 2 (additional support) and level 3 (targeted support) of the levels of need framework. If we feel that a child or family require support, we will adopt a ‘graduated response’ approach, whereby we utilise the local authority’s Level of Need Framework to support our decision.

We’re committed to supporting our pupils and families in any way we can, so if you’re in need of support we encourage you to talk to any one of our family support team. You can also reach us by emailing: ABPS-Office@shiresmat.org.uk
