Children at Astwood Bank Primary have been around the world this term (well in their classrooms at least). We recently celebrated Languages Day – our own scheduled day in the school year where every year group learns about a different country for the whole day. This year there was a cross-curricular focus. Pupils studied a talented artist from their country and produced artwork in the same style. The outcome was fantastic! Mrs Baird, who organised the whole day, kick started the morning with a wonderful assembly, and provided yummy croissants for everyone. We’re grateful for all of the hard work that Mrs Baird put into organising such a wonderful opportunity for our pupils.
A Sports Day to remember! We’re really proud of all our pupils who showed sportsmanship and competitiveness in bundles during a morning of races. All 409 children took part in a variety of races, all organised expertly by Mrs Roberts.
A big shout out goes to our wonderful PTA who provided drinks and pastries for the parents and carers. We’re also grateful to all those who sat through the summer heat to stay and cheer the children on.
We have the best school community!
We did it!
This year our school’s chosen charity is Acorns Children’s Hospice and we set ourselves a target of raising £1000 this year. Well, we only went and surpassed this by an extra £233.49!
Ultimately, it’s down to our community’s support and generosity, and the enthusiasm of the children at our school that we were able to exceed our initial target. We’re super proud of our whole school community because the money raised is going to help those families who need the support of Acorns Children’s Hospice.
What’s more, we had a blast along the way! The Big Bunny Hop was a great addition to the spring term; the school council were able to show their influence, and the teachers thoroughly enjoyed being silly for their fun run around the village dressed as crayons.
It’s so nice to share good news.
